John Jocelyn was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. After graduating from UC Irvine, John enlisted in the United States Army, where he distinguished himself as a human intelligence non-commissioned officer attached to the U.S. Army Special Forces in Afghanistan, earning an Army Commendation Medal and Combat Action Badge for his contributions to Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon completing his term of enlistment, he became a professor at the U.S. Army Intelligence Center, training new soldiers in human intelligence operations, interrogation, and intelligence source operations.

While in Afghanistan, John worked closely with a senior JAG officer who saw potential and encouraged him to pursue the law as a career. John received a full scholarship to attend Pepperdine University Law School, where he concurrently earned a Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine and a master’s degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Strauss Institute.

John is motivated by a personal sense of duty to serve, which drives his work as an attorney. He has recovered millions of dollars for clients and always keeps a sharp focus on getting them the best outcome for their case. At Tofer and Associates, John has focused on building relationships with each and every client to get them the results they deserve. Outside of work, John spends time with his family, woodworking, and tinkering with motorcycles.
